India and Mauritius have strengthened their energy ties by signing a government-to-government Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on oil and gas cooperation.

The MoU was signed on August 20, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the long-standing energy relationship between the two countries.

Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), India's largest refiner, has also signed a five-year agreement with the State Trading Corporation of Mauritius to supply petrol, diesel, and jet fuel to the island nation.

This deal comes at a time when global energy markets are under pressure due to conflict in West Asia and disruptions linked to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
