India Raises MSP for Wheat and Launches ₹1.86 Lakh Crore Renewable Energy Plan

India's government has raised the minimum support prices (MSP) for its Rabi crops, including wheat. The MSP for wheat was increased by ₹25 per quintal. Safflower saw the biggest increase at ₹675 per quintal, followed by rapeseed-mustard at ₹413 and lentils at ₹390 per quintal.

The Union Cabinet also approved a Green Energy Corridor Phase III scheme worth ₹1,86,405 crore. The goal is to develop an intra-state transmission system for up to 135 GW of renewable energy by 2032-33. This will involve installing large-scale batteries to store electricity generated during the day for use at night and building a network of power lines and poles within states.
