Romgaz CEO Downplays Gas Supply Worries for Household Consumers

Romgaz CEO Răzvan Popescu says Romania will not face gas supply problems next winter, and household consumers can continue to enjoy a regulated price. Romgaz supplies over 80% of the gas destined for household consumers.

The situation is different for industry and other non-household consumers, which are exposed to European prices and competition for liquefied natural gas between Europe and Southeast Asian markets.

Popescu points out that price levels this winter and in future years will be influenced by European energy policies and the continent's dependence on imports. Domestic production covers less than 10% of demand, while Europe consumed over 330 billion cubic meters of gas in 2025.
