India Raises Natural Gas Price Ceiling for Difficult Fields
The Indian government has raised the ceiling price for natural gas from difficult fields to $9.89/MMBtu for October 2026-March 2027, up from $8.90 previously.
The increase applies to deepwater, ultra-deepwater and HPHT (high-pressure, high-temperature) discoveries, which are more costly to produce than mature onshore fields.
This move could provide relief to producers developing India's offshore gas resources, where production costs are generally higher.
