India Sees Surge in Petrol and Diesel Sales Amid Economic Revival

Petrol and diesel sales are on the rise in India, according to provisional data from the oil ministry. In July, petrol sales increased by 8.6% year-on-year, while diesel demand jumped 9.4%. This growth is attributed to improved mobility and strengthened vehicle sales.

In contrast, jet fuel sales declined 1.4%, and cooking gas (LPG) consumption fell 17.4%. The LPG sales decline can be linked to supply disruptions caused by the Iran war, which started on February 28.

The impact of rising fuel costs has also been felt in the aviation industry, with higher airfares leading to reduced demand for jet fuel.
