India is exploring ways to increase its reliance on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The move comes as New Delhi seeks to diversify energy sources amid ongoing geopolitical uncertainty.

According to Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, India is working with the UAE to expand strategic petroleum reserves in the country. This includes exploring the possibility of the UAE becoming a more important source of LPG and LNG for India's requirements.

A study is also underway to examine whether India could use underwater ocean pipelines to bring gas into the country and store it, as part of efforts to strengthen energy resilience and security.
