Indian Equities Start Cautiously as Global Markets Indicate Mixed Signals
The Indian equity markets began Monday on a cautious note as global cues indicated a mixed start. The Nifty, which is part of the Gift platform, was in the red, signaling a possible dip in the domestic market. This came as Brent crude oil prices surged past $96 per barrel, and US Treasury yields rose.
The Asian markets, however, started the day on a positive note, with Japan's Nikkei 225 gaining nearly 1% and South Korea's Kospi climbing 3.09%. The Australian S&P/ASX 200 remained largely unchanged.
US stock markets will remain closed on Monday due to a public holiday, but US Treasury yields moved higher on Friday, with the 10-year yield rising over 2 basis points to 4.784%.
