Indian Gold Prices Hold Steady Amid Global Market Volatility
On August 4, gold prices in India remained largely steady as investors and traders monitored global bullion trends. The US dollar's fluctuations and potential interest rate moves by central banks were key factors influencing market sentiment.
Retail prices of gold continued to hover near record levels, with the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) providing valuable signals for traders. According to Kaynat Chainwala, AVP Commodity Research, precious metals firmed up on Monday due to weakness in oil prices and easing geopolitical tensions after US President Trump cancelled strikes against Iran.
Gold prices across various cities in India were as follows: New Delhi (24K: ₹14,365/g), Mumbai (24K: ₹14,350/g), Chennai (24K: ₹14,350/g), Kolkata (24K: ₹14,350/g), Bengaluru (24K: ₹14,350/g), and Hyderabad (24K: ₹14,350/g). Silver prices were trading at ₹218-₹220 per gram.
Experts suggest that gold remains a solid long-term hedge against inflation and economic uncertainty. However, due to current record-high prices, staggered buying is recommended rather than investing a large lump sum at once.
