Home appliance prices in India are expected to rise from October 1, ahead of the Dasara and Diwali festive season. Manufacturers face higher input and transportation costs due to rising global tensions, which have led to increases in copper, steel, and crude oil prices. The rupee's fluctuations have also added pressure on production costs.

Industry sources indicate that air conditioner prices may rise by 5 to 8 percent, while washing machines, refrigerators, and LED TVs could see a 3 to 4 percent increase. Some companies are still assessing market conditions before making a final decision on price hikes.

Kamal Nandi of Godrej Enterprises Group confirmed that the company has already raised prices by around 5 to 7 percent across categories. B Thiagarajan, Managing Director of Blue Star, attributed the price increases to higher commodity costs linked to global conflicts. Around 30 to 40 percent of annual appliance sales typically take place between Onam and Diwali.
