Indian Market Cautious Amid Foreign Selling and Mixed Global Cues
The Indian market began October 1 with a cautious setup as GIFT Nifty indicated a moderately lower opening and foreign institutional investors remained net sellers. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended at 50,927.05, declining 0.86%, while the NASDAQ Composite gained 0.26% to 26,887.44.
Asian markets were also mixed, with Japan's Nikkei 225 rising 2.25% to 68,253.01, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index edged down 0.12% to 24,613.27. Domestic institutional investors recorded net purchases of ₹11,271.73 crore, contrasting with foreign institutional investors' net sales of ₹10,148.41 crore.
Crude oil prices eased to $89.96 and the rupee remained unchanged at 95.82 against the US dollar. The session was positioned to depend on the interaction between institutional flows, international cues, and company-specific developments.
