Indian Oil Backs $350 Million Kochi-Kanyakumari-Thoothukudi Pipeline

Indian Oil Corporation Limited's board has approved an investment of Rs 2,448.70 crore to develop the Kochi-Kanyakumari-Thoothukudi Natural Gas Pipeline (KTPL). The pipeline will stretch for 424.65 km and connect Kochi in Kerala with Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu.

The system capacity of the KTPL will be 6.84 million metric standard cubic metres per day (MMSCMD), including common carrier capacity. A total of 1.71 MMSCMD of this capacity will be available as common carrier capacity.

The project aims to strengthen natural gas transmission infrastructure in southern India, and is part of efforts to support the expansion of city gas distribution networks and supply natural gas to industrial consumers, power plants, and other downstream users in the region.
