NPA Eyes Stable Fuel Production at Sentuo Through End of Year
The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) in Ghana is optimistic about steady fuel production at Sentuo Oil Refinery through December 2026, according to NPA Chief Executive Godwin Kudzo Tameklo. He made this statement on September 18 during an interview with JoyNews.
The regulator's confidence comes as the country seeks to strengthen its fuel supply and reduce dependence on imported petroleum products.
Patrick Kwaku Ofori, CEO of the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD), emphasized the importance of Sentuo and Tema Oil Refinery operating. He estimates that the two refineries could cover between 25% and 30% of Ghana's total fuel consumption, with imports supplying the remainder.
Ofori also cautioned that increased domestic refining would not automatically mean lower fuel prices at filling stations, as refineries purchase crude oil at international quotations.
