India's petrol prices have remained steady for several days, with Delhi seeing a price of ₹102.12 per litre on August 16, 2026. In Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata, petrol costs ₹103.54, ₹107.74, and ₹113.51 respectively.

The country imports about 80% of its oil needs, making domestic pump rates dependent on international prices as denominated by India's crude oil basket. Central excise duty, VAT or value-added tax levied by state governments, dealer and refining margins, and transportation costs also factor into petrol prices.
