Indian stock markets saw declines in early trade on Tuesday, August 25, amid heightened geopolitical tensions and rising crude oil prices.
The 30-share BSE Sensex fell by 139.96 points to 77,235.23, while the 50-share NSE Nifty slipped 66.75 points to 24,162.50.
Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, traded at $92.49 per barrel, up 0.35% from the previous day's close.
Ponmudi R., CEO of Enrich Money, attributed the market decline to the intensification of economic pressure on Iran following the US's 'Economic D-Day' sanctions campaign.
Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) bought equities worth ₹1,181.66 crore on Monday, according to exchange data.
