Indian Stock Markets Extend Losing Streak for Seventh Week

The Indian stock markets continued their losing streak for the seventh week in a row due to high crude oil prices and increased US bond yields.

The Nifty index dropped by 0.88 per cent over the week, but gained 0.34 per cent on the final trading day to close at 23,140 points.

The Sensex increased by 315 points or 0.43 per cent at the close to reach 73,895, though it fell 0.54 per cent over the entire week.

The markets faced heavy selling pressure in the middle of the week, with indices plunging more than 1.6 per cent on Thursday before recovering modestly on Friday due to value buying.
