Indian Stock Markets Rise as Crude Oil Prices Decline
Stock markets in India opened higher on Wednesday, August 26, as crude oil prices dropped. The BSE Sensex rose by 285 points to 77,944.02, while the NSE Nifty gained 23.25 points to 24,356.10.
The positive trend was driven by foreign fund inflows and a decline in crude oil prices. Brent crude traded 2.66% lower at $86.22 per barrel, with WTI falling more than 6% over the past two sessions to trade in the $80-81-per-barrel range.
Analysts attributed the decline in crude oil prices to reduced supply-disruption risks following recent developments involving Iran and Oman over the Strait of Hormuz. The easing of tensions between the U.S. and Iran added to the optimism, with Brent crude extending its retreat from last week's peak near $94.
