Indiana Farmers Cope with Soaring Diesel Prices
Farmers in Indiana are dealing with significantly higher diesel prices than last year's harvest season. According to AAA, diesel is averaging $6.82 per gallon in the state, up from $3.78 a year ago. This increase has led to higher costs for farmers, who have seen significant price hikes on their supplies. Purdue agricultural economist Michael Langemeier notes that while higher corn and soybean prices have helped offset some of these costs, it's possible that consumers may eventually bear the brunt through increased food prices.
