India's Consumer Durable Industry Braces for Third Price Hike in 2026
India's consumer durable industry is bracing for another price hike on October 1, affecting products like air-conditioners, televisions, refrigerators, and washing machines. This will be the third round of price increases in 2026, with some categories already seeing cumulative increases of 16-18%.
The main reason behind these price hikes is the sharp rise in global input costs. Key raw materials like copper, aluminium, steel, and resin have seen significant price increases this year, with copper prices rising by 34%, resin by 17%, steel by 24%, and aluminium by 16%. Logistics and energy costs, as well as adverse foreign-exchange movements, have added further pressure on manufacturers.
Manufacturers are also dealing with increased freight costs, disrupted supply chains due to the West Asia War, and port delays of up to 30 days. This has affected inventory planning and burdened companies dependent on imported components.
