India's Consumer Electronics Industry Faces New Price Hikes Starting October 1
As the festive season approaches, consumers in India are bracing for higher prices on consumer electronics and appliances. Starting from October 1, several manufacturers have announced price hikes ranging from 5% to 8%, affecting categories like air conditioners, LED TVs, washing machines, refrigerators, and other durables. The increase is attributed to soaring raw material costs, including copper, aluminium, steel, and crude oil derivatives, as well as higher freight expenses.
Companies such as Blue Star, Godrej Appliances, Haier, Daikin, and Super Plastronics have already increased prices or confirmed price hikes across different categories. LG and Bosch Home Comfort, which owns the Hitachi air-conditioner brand, have raised AC prices by around 5%. The latest price revision is the third in 2026, with manufacturers citing higher commodity and logistics costs throughout the year.
While dealers may still be selling old inventory at earlier prices or offering promotional deals, consumers are advised to compare prices across brands and retailers carefully. As strong seasonal demand is expected during Dussehra and Diwali, some manufacturers hope that higher prices will not significantly impact festive sales. However, the actual increase may vary depending on the brand, category, existing inventory, and how much of the higher input cost a manufacturer chooses to absorb.
