India's LPG Refill Rules Overhaul: Dual Connections at Risk of Disconnection
The Indian government has announced significant changes to LPG refill rules for customers holding dual connections in June 2026. The Oil Ministry clarified that existing refill booking timelines remain unchanged, with 25 days for rural areas and 45 days for urban areas.
However, the ministry warned that customers who hold both PNG and LPG connections will have their LPG connection cut off if they fail to switch to piped gas within a three-month deadline. This is aimed at reducing dependency on LPG, tackling black marketing, and distributing it to households without PNG infrastructure.
Additionally, oil marketing companies are pushing for the 'One Household, One Gas Connection' rule, directing customers to switch and surrender LPG connections for PNG wherever possible. Customers with both LPG and PNG connections will receive messages to surrender their LPG connection and switch to only PNG.
