Indonesia's Palm Oil Boom Fuels Domestic Cooking Oil Sales
Indonesia's palm oil export surge is expected to boost sales of its domestic cooking oil brand, Minyakita. The Trade Ministry has reported that the mandatory domestic market obligation (DMO) for Minyakita production reached at least 106,003 tons in September.
This increase is attributed to rising palm oil exports, which totaled $14.79 billion between January and July 2026, a 5.49% rise from the same period last year. However, the volume of exports decreased by nearly 1% to 13.51 million tons over the same period.
The government aims to stabilize cooking oil prices, particularly in the eastern part of the country. In Papua, Minyakita sales have exceeded the price ceiling by 5%. With the year-end holiday season approaching, Trade Ministry official Bambang Wisnubroto stated, 'We are working on making sure cooking oil prices stay stable.'
