The United Arab Emirates accused Iran of targeting an oil tanker belonging to its state-owned company ADNOC in the Strait of Hormuz. The UAE's foreign ministry condemned the 'hostile Iranian attack' as a blatant violation of international law and UN Security Council Resolution 2817.

Iran has been imposing an effective blockade on the strait, which is a vital waterway for global energy supplies. Tehran wants to charge users for passage, but the US opposes any Iranian tolls in the strait. A June deal between Iran and Oman allows for 'future administration' of Hormuz through dialogue.

Kuwait's foreign affairs ministry also condemned the attack as a direct threat to maritime navigation and global energy supplies. The UAE had previously reported that 15 of its vessels had been attacked in Hormuz since the start of the war, including three this week alone.

Oman's foreign ministry said negotiations regarding navigation arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz were proceeding positively, but Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi cautioned that talks with Oman were not a sign of the reopening of the strait. He stated that 'the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is subject to other conditions and compensation for the violation of the memorandum of understanding by the United States.'
