Iran Accused of Attacking UAE Tankers in Strait of Hormuz
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has accused Iran of firing drones at two tankers operated by Abu Dhabi's state-owned oil and gas company ADNOC as they sailed through the Strait of Hormuz.
The attacks caused no casualties but highlighted the dangers faced by vessels moving cargo through the critical waterway that connects the Persian Gulf to the open oceans. The UAE Foreign Ministry blamed the attacks on Iran, calling them a 'flagrant violation' of the United Nations' principles of freedom of navigation.
Activists from Israel and other countries brought food and water to Palestinians under siege by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank town of Qusra. Three Palestinian families have been unable to leave their homes for nearly a week due to the standoff with settlers. Defense Minister Israel Katz instructed the army to prepare a plan to transfer power to the police to enforce civilian-related matters.
In Yemen, the military said its forces thwarted Houthi attacks in southwestern Yemen amid ongoing fighting with the Iran-backed rebels. The Houthis launched missiles targeting the port's infrastructure in Mokha, causing a fire at the port.
