Iran Demands US Lift Blockade, Sanctions for Strait of Hormuz Reopening

Iran has proposed a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resume talks on its nuclear program, but only if certain conditions are met. According to Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, the United States must lift its naval blockade of Iranian ports, waive sanctions on Iranian oil sales, and observe a ceasefire that includes Lebanon.

The proposal was made during a private gathering on Thursday on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly in New York, according to one attendee. The deal would require the US to take action within seven days, after which Iran would reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resume talks on its nuclear program.
