Iran Discovers 7.5 Trillion Cubic Feet of Natural Gas in South Pars Region
A major discovery of natural gas has been announced in the South Pars region of Iran. The Iranian Oil Minister, Mohsen Paknejad, stated that over 7.5 trillion cubic feet of natural gas have been found in the area.
Paknejad noted that this amount is sufficient to supply one phase of South Pars for 15 years, considering a recovery rate of more than 72 percent. This means that about 5.7 trillion cubic feet of gas can be produced from the newly discovered reserve.
The 'sweet gas' characteristic of the discovered natural gas will allow it to be transported directly without processing or with very little treatment, reducing costs for both field development and operation activities.
