Oil prices continued to rise on Thursday, September 3, 2026, despite muted trading following the latest round of US strikes on Iran. Brent crude settled at $95.52 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) rose to $91.30.

The WTI's gain of more than 9% for the week marked its largest weekly increase since July. Analyst Ole Hansen attributed this forward momentum to Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz's warning that Iran would 'cripple' its military and civilian infrastructure, including energy facilities, if it launched attacks against Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also weighed in, stating that the Iranian leadership was 'weaker than ever' and 'fighting for its life.' US President Donald Trump echoed this sentiment, predicting that further escalation would be limited.
