Iran Offers New Talks with US Amid Ongoing Conflict

Iran has proposed a new round of talks with Washington to end the full-scale conflict between the two nations. The proposal, made by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, is reportedly similar to a memorandum of understanding reached in June.

Araghchi told The Washington Post that Tehran had proposed resuming negotiations within seven days and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, which holds significant strategic importance as approximately 20% of global oil supplies and around 25% of liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports pass through it.

The US has confirmed that it is engaged in 'positive and constructive' talks with Iran through a third-party mediator. A US official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that Washington's response to the proposal was awaited.
