Iran Rejects Military Solution in Conflict with US
Iran's top diplomat, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, insisted on Sunday that there would be no military solution to the US war against Iran. The conflict began in late February and has seen a series of heavy bombardments by the US and Israel. Despite these efforts, the war remains unresolved.
The key point of contention is Iran's attempt to blockade the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway for Gulf oil and gas exports. The UK maritime agency reported another tanker being struck by an unknown projectile on Sunday, causing damage to its engine room.
Iran has demanded a ceasefire across the Middle East, the unfreezing of its assets abroad, and the lifting of sanctions on its oil sector as conditions for reopening the strait. However, the US rejected these proposals and left the door open for further talks or renewed military operations.
