Iran Rejects Proposed Seven-Day Roadmap for Reopening Strait of Hormuz
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed distrust in negotiations with Washington, stating that Tehran has 'no trust' in the American side. The comments came after a proposed seven-day roadmap to reopen the Strait of Hormuz was rejected by US President Donald Trump.
The proposal, which was conveyed through Qatar and included lifting sanctions on Iranian oil sales and releasing $12 billion in frozen assets, aimed to see fighting end while reopening the strategic waterway. The initial steps under the plan would take four to five days, followed by the reopening of the Strait on the sixth day.
Pezeshkian criticized the US for not implementing previous agreements, saying 'when we signed the agreement previously, they did not implement it'. He also accused the US and Israel of initiating the conflict in the region. The Iranian president emphasized that Iran sought no action outside international law and responded when other parties violated it.
