Iran Strikes Oil Tanker Attempting Strait Transit Without Permission
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps announced it struck an oil tanker, the Togo-flagged Trend, for attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without authorization.
Tehran has claimed control over much of the waterway since the US and Israel launched attacks in February. The state broadcaster cited the Revolutionary Guard's navy warning that vessels trying to transit the strait would face 'destruction'.
In a separate incident, an unknown projectile struck another tanker while it was exiting the Strait on Wednesday, with no casualties reported. The UK Maritime Trade Operations issued a warning about this attack, but provided no further details.
