Iran Strikes Oil Tanker in Strait of Hormuz Amid Growing Tensions
Iran has claimed it struck an oil tanker trying to transit the Strait of Hormuz, citing an 'illegal attempt' by the vessel. The state broadcaster cited the Revolutionary Guard Corps as saying that any vessels attempting to pass through the strait without authorization would face 'destruction.' Iran has asserted control over much of the waterway since the US and Israel launched their war in February.
Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of Iranians rallied in Tehran in support of the government, marking the largest show of support since the conflict began. The protesters trampled flags of the US and Israel, and chanted 'Death to America' and 'Death to Israel.'
