Iran Threatens Strikes Against US Energy Firms Amid Escalating Tensions

Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has warned that his country may strike U.S. energy companies in response to a threat by U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to destroy Iranian oil vessels.

Ghalibaf made the statement on social media, citing the vulnerability of American oil and gas facilities in the region.

The warning comes after the U.S. disabled three Iranian oil tankers over the weekend in retaliation for an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps ballistic missile attack targeting two U.S. Navy warships.

Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway for global energy supplies, has declined significantly since the start of the conflict, with only eight vessels transiting the strait on Sunday.
