Tensions between Iran and the US have escalated after a series of attacks on oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.

A crude oil tanker was struck by an unknown projectile off the coast of Oman, near the Strait of Hormuz, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTRO). The crew reported safe with no environmental impact.

This is the second incident in recent days, after another tanker was hit while transiting outbound through the waterway, causing a small fire and blackout onboard. No casualties or environmental damage were reported.

The US has warned it will retaliate if the link to Iran is established, with President Donald Trump stating 'Oh, they'll be hit, very hard, don't worry.'
