Iran Vows to Defend Oil Sales and Security Against US Threats
Iran's top legislator, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, addressed Parliament on Tuesday, reaffirming the country's stance on oil sales and security in the face of US threats.
Qalibaf emphasized that if Iran's oil sales are not guaranteed and its security is compromised, no one else will sell oil or maintain infrastructure in the region.
The statement came after the US made claims about controlling the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway for global oil trade. In response to these assertions, Qalibaf stressed that Iran would defend its rights and security, warning that any attempt by the US to enforce a naval blockade or close Iranian air corridors would be met with 'serious economic planning and management and military responses.'
He drew parallels between current events and the 1980s war imposed on Iran by Iraq's former dictator Saddam Hussein, stating that 'America's current efforts will likewise be defeated through serious economic planning and management and military responses.'
