Iran has threatened to respond more forcefully if the US launches further attacks. This comes after a series of clashes between the two countries, which have been locked in a six-month conflict.

The exchanges of fire began with US raids last week and have continued since then. Iran has maintained control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz, while the US has imposed counter-blockades on Iranian ports.

Iran's top negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, warned that any aggression against Iran's interests would receive a faster, more intense, and more painful response.

The US military claimed to have successfully evaded an attack by Iranian forces, while Iran said it had targeted three oil tankers linked to the US.
