Iranian Oil Minister Resigns Amid Petrol Shortages and War Recessions
Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad has resigned amid long queues at petrol stations in Iran, which are struggling due to the impact of the Middle East war. The president's office announced his resignation on Sunday.
Following the acceptance of Paknejad's resignation, Hamid Bordbar, the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company, was appointed as acting Minister of Oil by a decree from the president, according to a statement carried by state broadcaster IRIB.
The move comes at a time when Iran is facing significant challenges in its energy sector. The country has been affected by the Middle East war, which has led to supply chain disruptions and economic instability.
