Oil Exporters Agree to Maintain Production Amid Price Surge
Seven major oil-exporting countries have agreed to maintain their production levels in November amid rising tensions over Iran and a subsequent surge in global oil prices. The OPEC+ subgroup, comprising Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria, and Oman, made this decision at a meeting on Sunday.
The price of Brent crude oil has exceeded $100 per barrel due to the ongoing conflict with Iran. To alleviate the situation, the Group of Seven (G7) wealthy democracies have announced plans to release 100 million barrels of oil and fuel products over the next few weeks, starting with a 'substantial' amount of diesel within the next 20 days.
The G7's move aims to stabilize the global oil market and alleviate price pressures on consumers. The release will be followed by further allocations over four months.
