Iraq Aims for 10 Million Barrels per Day in Ambitious Oil Production Target
Iraq's Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi has set ambitious targets for the country's oil production, aiming to reach nearly 10 million barrels per day by 2030. The goal was discussed at a high-level meeting with ministers of finance and oil, as well as government advisors. The meeting emphasized the need for Iraq's oil production levels to align with its oil reserves, energy capabilities, and population size.
The meeting also stressed the importance of developing and modernizing oil infrastructure and expanding export capacity to keep pace with the anticipated increase in production. Additionally, directives were issued to make full use of Iraq's gas resources to meet domestic demand, reduce flaring and waste, and achieve self-sufficiency in gas supplies.
The Ministry of Oil was tasked with organizing a major conference to attract international investment, expertise, and technologies. The initiative aims to strengthen Iraq's position in global energy markets while increasing state revenues and enhancing the country's economic capabilities.
