IRGC Targets Seven Oil Tankers in Strait of Hormuz in Five Days
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has taken aggressive action against oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, targeting at least seven vessels in just five days.
According to Fars news agency, the IRGC Navy has hit one or more oil tankers each day since the start of the week, despite US President Donald Trump's claims that the strait is 'open and under his country's control.'
The latest incidents occurred on Friday, when two oil tankers were struck by explosions in the strait - one at the entrance and another while exiting.
The targeted vessels include two Kuwaiti tankers, AL FUNTAS and KAZIMAH III, and three United Arab Emirates vessels, SINBAD, MERSIN PROSPERITY, and AL RUWAIS. These attacks come after Iran tightened its grip on the Strait of Hormuz on February 28, blocking safe passage for vessels affiliated with or belonging to Israel and the US.
