Ivanhoe Electric's Santa Cruz PFS Update: Copper Recovery Targets 92.3%
Ivanhoe Electric has released an updated Preliminary Feasibility Study (PFS) for its Santa Cruz Copper Project. The study outlines a 24-year mine plan, heap leach and SX/EW processing design, with a technical report prepared under SEC S K 1300 rules.
The new study shows a copper recovery equation targeting 92.3% total copper to cathode, a small contained copper reserve uplift from mine sequencing changes, and life of mine C1 cash costs of US$1.47 per pound supported by positive after-tax cash flow modeling.
This development has changed the investment narrative for Ivanhoe Electric, which is now focused on executing its mine plan without major stumbles. The company still faces significant challenges, including capital intensity and copper price sensitivity.
