Jaishankar Criticizes US as Lonelier Power Amid Global Shifts
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar addressed the 62nd Munich Security Conference in New Delhi, where he criticized the US for deliberately becoming a "lonelier power." He emphasized Russia's longstanding support for India, contrasting it with the global backing of Pakistan's military regime.
Jaishankar revealed that India's approach to the Russia-Ukraine conflict has evolved beyond mere advocacy of dialogue, hinting at active mediation. He mentioned India's proposals addressing grain and energy exports, as well as non-attack possibilities, aiming to end the war through diplomacy. Both Russia and Ukraine have acknowledged India's efforts, with Ukraine's foreign minister calling it the "broadest" peace proposal among four received.
The minister also highlighted the US's "radical repositioning" and China's rise, noting that the current global system, underwritten by the US, is diluting. He pointed out the weaponization of leverage in the sharp competition between the US and China, affecting other countries as well.
