Japan Boosts Diplomatic Efforts on Middle East Waterway Safety

Japan is taking steps to ensure safe passage through two critical Middle East waterways. Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi visited Saudi Arabia and Oman, key players in the region, for talks with his counterparts. The Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb Strait are crucial transport routes for Middle East crude oil.

Motegi's visit to Saudi Arabia and Oman was a six-day trip that ended on Saturday. During his meeting with Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Motegi stressed Japan's readiness to play an active role in the country's desalination project.
