Jordan PM Launches Gas Project to Cut Industrial Energy Costs
Prime Minister Jafar Hassan has laid the cornerstone for a new natural gas supply project at Al-Rawda Industrial City in Maan Governorate, as part of the government's strategy to connect industrial zones with natural gas and reduce energy costs by up to 60 percent.
The $10 million project is funded by an Abu Dhabi Fund grant, one of several initiatives in Jordan's industrial cities. Similar projects have been completed in South Aqaba, Quweira, Qastal, and Hashemiyah, with others underway or being studied.
The Al-Rawda Industrial City is expected to benefit from the project within 18 months, enhancing its competitiveness and attractiveness to investment while supporting national exports and local employment opportunities. The government has also offered investment incentives, including energy cost support and reduced container handling costs at the Port of Aqaba.
