Kawasaki Delivers New LNG Carrier to Petronas LNG Ltd.
A new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier, Puteri Kelantan, has been delivered to Petronas LNG Ltd. (PLL). The vessel was built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd in China and is owned by a joint venture company led by Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd.
The delivery of the new carrier comes after two other similar vessels were delivered to PLL in May and June 2026. A naming ceremony was held on September 2, 2026, where the vessel was named Puteri Kelantan, meaning 'princess' in Malay, with reference to the state of Kelantan in Peninsular Malaysia.
The delivery is expected to strengthen PLL's fleet and support the reliable delivery of LNG to its customers. Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. has positioned the LNG business as a top priority area for future investments, aiming to expand long-term contracts and meet growing demand for energy.
