Kazakhstan's KazMunayGas Speeds Up Digital Rollout
Kazakhstan's state-owned oil company KazMunayGas (KMG) is accelerating the rollout of digital and technology solutions to improve production efficiency, the company announced recently. CEO Askhat Khassenov has instructed KMG to continue implementing technological advancements.
The focus is on mature fields such as Uzen and Karamandybas, where hydraulic fracturing remains a key technology for increasing oil production. OMG has successfully conducted foam-nitrogen hydraulic fracturing and hydraulic fracturing using synthetic fluids, with commercial-scale rollout beginning this year.
KMG is also exploring polymer-based technologies to slow the decline in production and reduce water cut. The company has optimized the water-alternating profile modification technology using polymer injection, which has helped reduce costs by half while increasing annual production by 200,000 tons of oil.
