KBR to Boost Aramco’s Marjan Field with Offshore Upgrades
KBR has secured a contract from Saudi Aramco to upgrade offshore facilities at the Marjan oil and gas field in the Arabian Gulf. The project involves enhancing key offshore processing, gas compression, and power infrastructure to support increased production capacity following recent developments at the field. The scope also includes integrating digital technologies, automation, and power system improvements for associated gas processing and offshore asset upgrades.
Jay Ibrahim, President of KBR's Sustainable Technology Solutions, highlighted the significance of the contract, stating that it reflects the long-standing project execution relationship between KBR and Aramco. He emphasized the combination of KBR's offshore engineering expertise with advanced automation and digital integration to meet Aramco's expectations.
The engineering work for the project will be primarily conducted from KBR's offices in Houston and Al-Khobar. The Marjan oil and gas field, located off Saudi Arabia's eastern coast, is part of Aramco's Marjan increment program, which aims to boost the field's production capacity.
