Kingfisher Oil Project Nears Completion in Uganda

The Kingfisher oil project is nearing completion in Uganda, with the government hailing its progress. Minister Sandra Santa Alum expressed satisfaction during an oversight visit to the project's development area, citing significant environmental and technical readiness for first oil production.

Alum noted that while most project-affected persons have been compensated, a few cases remain unresolved. She highlighted the substantial presence of Ugandans working on the project as evidence that local content aspirations are being realized.

The Kingfisher Central Processing Facility (CPF) is 99% complete and undergoing pre-commissioning and commissioning works, said Seith Muhumuza, head of stakeholder management at the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU). The facility will be ready for first oil production, with commercial output expected to start at roughly 25,000 barrels per day.

The project has installed meters, pig launchers and receivers at the CPF. Strict waste disposal protocols are in place during production phase, according to Muhumuza, who added that the waste management framework will continue once the project enters full production.
