Ksi Lisims LNG Lands Ninth Major Supply Deal Ahead of FID
Ksi Lisims LNG, a proposed $10 billion floating natural gas liquefaction facility north of Prince Rupert, has secured another tentative supply deal. Centrica Energy, a UK utility, will purchase one million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of output for 20 years from the plant.
This heads-of-agreement marks the ninth mtpa commitment Ksi Lisims has received, out of a projected 12 mtpa total production. Chris O'Shea, Group Chief Executive at Centrica, said: 'Energy security has never mattered more.'
The project, which is being designed to be one of the lowest-emission LNG plants in the world, has also caught the attention of the federal government. It was designated as 'in the national interest' by Prime Minister Mark Carney and referred to the Major Projects Office for fast-tracking.
