LNGPH, a consortium of Meralco PowerGen Corp. (MGEN), Aboitiz Power Corp., and San Miguel Global Power Holdings Corp., is considering participation in the government's mid-merit natural gas auction.

The Department of Energy plans to hold the country's first mid-merit natural gas auction, offering 3,840 megawatts (MW) of capacity. The auction will be open to operators of existing uncommitted, newly built, and upgraded natural gas facilities.

MGEN President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel V. Rubio said the consortium is evaluating its participation in the auction, citing factors such as interconnection availability, grid capacity, demand requirements, project siting, and the final auction framework. 'Any participation will depend on these factors,' he stated.
