Loonie Dives Below 71 US Cents Amid TSX Decline

The Canadian dollar has continued its downward trend, falling below 71 US cents for the first time since July.

As of 8:43 a.m. CDT on Wednesday, the loonie was trading at US$0.7091 or US$1=C$1.4102, down from US$0.7110 or US$1=C$1.4065 earlier in the day.

The decline of the Canadian dollar comes as the U.S. Dollar Index rose 0.26 points to 100.86.

Crude oil prices saw a boost on Wednesday, with Brent crude oil increasing by US$1.43 at US$100.68 per barrel and West Texas Intermediate advancing by US$0.78 at US$91.30/barrel.
